4 STBM Pillar Triggering Simulation in Muntigunung Karangasem

`

In the implementation of the Community Empowerment Course in the field of Environmental Health, Bachelor of Public Health Study Program, FK UNUD, as a student project assignment, students specializing in Environmental Health class 2019 collaborated on strategies to trigger changes in safe waste management behavior. This trigger is the implementation of Pillar 4 of the National Community Based Total Sanitation (STBM) strategy. This collaboration was carried out with the Griya Luhu Institution, which is the initiator of a digital waste bank in Bali, with Ms. Desi Suarmini, a Kubu II Public Health Center Sanitarian, one of the best sanitarians from the Bali Province and supported by friends from the Muntigunung waste management program team. The initial activity in the form of a triggering simulation for team preparation was carried out on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Rumah Pintar, Dusun Muntigunung Induk , Tianyar Barat, Karangasem. This activity succeeded in forming 3 combined teams of students and local facilitators with a total of 18 people who are ready to trigger around 16 community posts in the Dusun Muntigunung Induk and Muntigunung Tengah which are planned to be carried out from March to April 2022.

Triggering activities at community posts will be carried out using a participatory rural appraisal (PRA) approach that triggers collective awareness in the community regarding waste management. These PRA tools were modified from tools for triggering stop open defecation (BABS), pillar 1 of STBM. With this approach, it is hoped that the waste management target will become a shared commitment and not just an individual commitment. As an output of this project, a triggering module for the 4 STBM pillars was also produced which was prepared by students.
