PSSKM FK Udayana Organizes Short Course on Community Dental Health Promotion and Geriatrics

Denpasar – The Undergraduate Public Health Study Program (PSSKM), Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, organized a Short Course on Community Dental Health Promotion and Geriatrics from March 17 to April 11, 2025. The program was attended by four international students: Cassandra Christel Lim Paat, Jasmin Mali Christensen, Joanna Rafaelle Lim Paat, and Gunnstein Shanker, and facilitated by 19 lecturers from PSSKM FK Udayana.

The learning process in this short course was conducted through various methods, including lectures, group discussions and presentations, the development of health promotion media, and field visits.

The series of activities included:

  • March 17–20, 2025: Opening ceremony and lectures introducing public health in Indonesia.
  • March 21–22, 2025: Field visits to UPTD Puskesmas 2 West Denpasar and an Elderly Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Lansia).
  • March 25–26, 2025: Lectures on health promotion for the elderly, children, and dental health; as well as geriatric, pediatric, and dental health services in Bali and Indonesia.
  • March 27, 2025: Field visit to elderly programs in tourism areas and Laughter Yoga at Ambar Ashram Bali.
  • March 31 – April 8, 2025: Visit to Penglipuran Village, a tourism village based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, along with community home visits in Gianyar Regency to observe community engagement in developing health promotion campaigns.
  • April 9–11, 2025: Experience-sharing sessions, discussion of results, and evaluation.

One of the key outcomes of this short course was the implementation of health promotion media for communities in Gianyar Regency, reflecting an academic contribution to strengthening public health, particularly in dental health promotion and geriatrics.

Through this activity, students gained direct experience of public health conditions in Bali while strengthening their understanding of community-based health promotion strategies. For PSSKM FK Udayana, this short course is a manifestation of its commitment to fostering international academic collaboration and making a tangible contribution to improving public health at both local and global levels.
